Note: white dots are the sun reflecting off the texture of the oil paint Mrs. Elizabeth Hershey Landis Hershey (1874-1961) - mother of artist Samuel F. Hershey and a Hershey Chocolate Company relative (her husband was a second cousin of Milton Hershey and her mother maiden name was Hershey and she married her 1st cousin Landis. They were Pennsylvania Mennonites. During the summer of 1938, Jon Corbino and Samuel F. Hershey (his good friend) taught an eight-week session together at the Sandy Bay Art School in Rockport, MA. Well-known WPA artist Sam Hershey (1904-1987) was an instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design and lifetime resident of Rockport.
